About Nicole Wells Stallworth
Nicole Wells Stallworth is a child & family advocate having specialized in community engagement activities, government relations, advocacy, and child & family enrichment initiatives. Passionate about engaging the community’s perspective on relevant topics and providing voice to those who typically are overlooked in the policy making process, Nicole has hosted hundreds of community forums around the State of Michigan. These forums have focused on policy issues in k-12 education, increasing access to affordable health care services, and ensuring access to quality behavioral health services for families in need.
Stallworth has been involved in advocacy for Michigan families for nearly 15 years, having coordinated energy assistance programs for low-income families and senior citizens during her time with The Heat & Warmth Fund. In addition, she led grassroots and advocacy initiatives within the K-12 sector during her time at MAPSA advocating for quality community pubic schools. Providing children with the proper education which prepares them to compete in and contribute to society is an issue that she believes to be critical to ensuring a quality of life for future generations. As a result, Nicole was instrumental in recruiting advocates to engage public policy leaders in discussions related to public education and innovative learning models that have proven to be successful across Michigan and throughout the country.
Nicole is a member of the President’s Community Advisory Council for Wayne State University, the National Congress of Black Women Greater Detroit Chapter, The Early Childhood Leadership & Advocacy advisory board for the National Alliance for Children & Families, and Chairs the Board of Directors for the International Preparatory Academy at the MacDowell Campus. She has been a guest lecturer in Wayne State University’s School of Education Urban Ed course on public policy, and is a Michigan Political Leadership Program alumna through Michigan State University’s Institute for Public Policy & Social Research. In addition, she is a Michigan Nonprofit Association Emerging Leader, Class VII, holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Arts in Communication Studies from Wayne State University.
Nicole has been recognized by the Michigan Front Page as a top 40 leader to watch under the age of 40, and by The Michigan Chronicle Women of Excellence, honoring women who inspire others through their vision, passion, and leadership.
She attends Oak Grove AME Church, with her husband Thomas F. Stallworth, III, has one daughter, Tonie Wells, a freshman at Michigan State University, and numerous children, whom she mentors with love.
