New Beginnings Academy is a tuition-free public charter school educating students in grades K-6. For the 2015-2016 school year, application will be accepted for K-6.  Located in Ypsilanti, Michigan, and serving the greater Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti/Willow Run communities, New Beginnings Academy can accommodate 200 elementary school students each school day. We provide our students with a community atmosphere and excellent educational opportunities.

 

New Beginnings Academy not only educates students in academic subjects, but character education as well. Each month, students focus on learning a "megaskill" in class and during whole school assemblies. Students are recognized for exhibiting exemplary behavior through school wide WOW slips and during Friday Flag. Each week, teachers choose one student from their class who has demonstrated the character trait of the month to celebrate. These students are called up to the front of the assembly amidst applause and cheers, as they are rewarded for being positive citizens.

 

MISSION

It is the mission of New Beginnings Academy that all enrolled K-6 students will become well educated, global citizens who provide unique contributions to their community and the world. They will feel personally empowered to impact the world around them.

 

WE BELIEVE THAT

All students can learn given the proper learning environment.

Children model adult behavior, both good and bad.

Based on diverse cultural backgrounds and individual differences, children have different learning styles.

Teachers are facilitators whose role is to create an environment where students take responsibility for their own learning.
